.
From our starting point on Coaley Peak we look across at Cam Long Down, another point on our walk
.
Karen greets us for today's walk
.
And we set off along the Cotswold Way
.
Through the woods
.
Pausing at the viewpoint at the start of Uley Bury
.
Where we look across at Downham Hill
.
We then walk round the top of Uley Bury pausing to look down over Uley
.
Then continuing round the hill to rejoin the Cotswold Way where we left it
.
Coffee is taken - a string of horses also out enjoying the morning sunshine
.
We know what comes next - its down the hill and up the other side as we climb Cam Long Down
.
Watched suspiciously by a couple of mothers with their babies
.
The final climb to the top
.
Where we are greeted by a carpet of bluebells
.
After the Long Down we head for Cam Peak
.
Where we stop to admire the views
.
Over Dursley, Cam and the River Severn
.
Taking the easy way down
.
We follow a path through a wood
.
Heading across fields
.
Round the valley
.
And stopping for lunch in a meadow of wild flowers - well dandelions
.
Oh and some of these as well
(Link for Richard and everyone else - very interesting Ed.)
.
Pressing on we cross a stream
.
And a path round a field takes us into Coaley
.
As we climb up the valley a friendly local points out that we have taken the wrong path
.
Karen leads off on the correct one
.
And all ends happily as we find our way
.
Out onto Frocester Hill
.
We look across to Doverow
.
As we climb back up to Coaley Peak
.
Heading back to the cars through a field of cowslips
.
And a final treat
.
Meanwhile down in the valley a storm is brewing and we are glad to reach the safety of the cars
.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard.
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
