.
A lovely sunny morning
.
As John leads a select group through Stratford Park
.
And away from the A46
.
Very peaceful up here
.
We pass Whiteshill Church
.
And up the valley
.
Into Sherman's Wood
.
Posing before
.
We find a suitable coffee stop in Pitchcombe Woods
.
Is it an art installation?
.
We continue on upwards (1,200 feet in the morning, with 950 feet of descent)
.
Past Resthaven
.
Plenty of life bursting now including yellow celandines and blue and white violets
.
Now on Edge Common
.
Where we join the Cotswold Way all the way to Painswick
.
English Nature - whoops, Natural England - tell us about the common
.
Edge village ahead, but we turn right downhill
.
Past Washbrook Farm - why is there a fireplace on the outside? I've always wondered!
.
Soon arriving in Painswick
.
Where nearly everyone dives into the Falcon for lunch before walking back across the fields to Stroud in the afternoon
.
Meanwhile Mike fills a few minutes taking photos
.
Including the yews in the churchyard
.
Before joining the queue for the bus back to Stroud
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
