.
Bernard is up bright and early to greet over 40 walkers to see a promised 4 star Severn Bore
.
Stiles string out the group
.
As we cross a few fields
.
To reach the river bank
.
Where we find a vantage point
.
Others are wondering where to stand
.
One person has it sussed
.
All in place now
.
Is it coming?
.
A surfer chases up river in a boat hoping for a bigger wave as the river narrows
.
And here comes the bore - a bit disappointing really
.
You never can tell
.
The river rises afterwards and is fairly agitated
.
Last look
.
And last photo as the wave disappears around the bend
.
We set off across the fields and most of us continue on a morning walk
.
Past a cottage
.
And an interestingly constructed farmhouse
.
Horses are active in this field
.
Will they charge the group?
.
Safe so far!
.
The last of the group are ushered out of the field by the residents
.
Looking back we see Gloucester and the swollen river
.
It's a morning of awkward stiles in this little walked area
.
Bernard leads the way
.
Daffodils brighten up the dull day (weatherwise)
.
Madam's End Farm and its chief guard
.
We now set off on a cross country course
.
Refusing the jumps
.
Or sneaking through the gaps!
.
Fancy a bath?
.
Julie takes advantage of the facilities
.
Eventually we reach Elmore church
.
Passing under the yew trees
.
Distant views of May Hill
.
And close ups of primroses
.
We pass Elmore Court, the home of the Guise family for generations
.
Willows are bursting forth, it must be nearly Spring
.
And we pass the former shop and post office - not much passing trade now - to return to the cars.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
