Mike looks pleased with himself as he displays the ups and downs of todays walk
.
Before we walk through Upton St Leonards to catch the bus
.
Which deposits us in Gloucester where we gather in Kings Square
.
Then head off
.
Past the cathedral
.
Bathed in lovely sunshine
.
Picking up the Wysis Way at the docks
.
Where we pause to look at the various boats including an old dredger
.
And a reminder of days when goods were moved on by rail
.
Our path takes us out through a park
.
Where the crocuses are out
.
And we pause for a break
.
Before heading up the Stroud Road to Robinswood - I think I have done the elderly people joke before
.
The entrance to Robinswood Hill Country Park and confirmation that we are on the Wysis Way
.
And we start our climb
.
The Cathedral now looking a long way off
.
Mike welcomes us as we reach the top of the hill with its Jubilee Memorial
.
And we enjoy the views from the top
.
Pausing out of the wind for an early lunch
.
Now it's downhill
.
With Robinswood Hill and May Hill (two walks ago) behind us now
.
Over Sneedhams Green
.
And the motorway
.
Heading towards the hills
.
Which we start to climb
.
Reaching the top of Cud Hill and the recently roofed Blow family memorial
.
Where we take another short break!
.
Making the most of the grassy banks at the side of the road
.
We set off along the road - Painswick Beacon ahead - but that's for next time
.
Mike suddenly remembers that this is the very spot where we took the cover photo for our book 3 years ago
.
A photo call - not bad for their year!
.
May 2006
.
The Cotswolds stretch out to the South
.
We enter Popes Woods
.

A pause to check the route ahead
.

And we set off down across fields
.
Photographer lurking behind the hedge
.

And a last pose for the camera as we enter Upton St Leonards
.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard and a smattering from Mike
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
