Sat 14 February 2009

.
Which Rambler isn't using supershine boot polish?
.
.
The start of our walk - Jim demonstrates a new dance step
.
.
Waiting to cross at the lights in Cainscross
.
.
Before making our way along the canal
.
.
To Ebley Mill
.
.
Then past the new development
.
.
And a sculpture erected by Snow Business
.
.
After inspecting a double lock on the canal
.
.
We continue to Ryeford
.
.
Then pass under the old railway bridge - now carrying a footpath and cycle track
.
.
Before crossing the canal and turning back on ourselves
.
.
Pausing on the same bridge to examine an old photo in one of Tim's books
.
.
A short stretch of the Ebley bypass
.
.
Then along the cycle track
.
.
With views across the water meadows
.
.
Quite pleasant, except for the traffic noise
.
.
Coffee stop - Tim shows more old photos - Beardless Andy shows some holiday photos
.
.
We walk up the hill towards Selsley
.
.
On the alternative Cotswold Way - lots of chattering!
.
.
Then down the other side
.
.
Some slippery steps
.
.
We then pick up the cycle track into Stroud
.
.
An impressive old bridge
.
.
Our route takes us down to the canal again
.
.
At the Wallbridge lock in the middle of Stroud
.
.
We walk back along the canal
.
.
To Cainscross - mind that lorry Tim
.
.
One last look at the canal before we head back to the cars
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
