Miserden figure of eight

Sat 24 January 2009

.
Advantage of joint leaders? 20 fingers and 20 toes to count numbers. Today we have 4 to spare!
.
.
As we head out of the Carpenters Arms Car Park in Miserden
.
.
Heading across the fields
.
.
Of Misarden Park
.
.
A sign of recent wet and cold weather
.
.
As we walk up the valley from Wishanger
.
.
Past Whiteway Colony
.
.
And back into the woods
.
.
Our path taking us towards Caudle Green
.
.
Where we stop for coffee
.
.
Then crossing the valley to climb up to Syde
.
.
Walking sticks working overtime
.
.
To be greeted by Bill and Ben
Oldies reminisce here. "Why can't the youngsters today dance like that?"
Youngsters learn more. (Scroll down) .
.
A difficult bank takes us down out of Syde
.
.
Followed by an equally difficult stream and stile combination
.
.
Easier walking now as we pass round a stubble field
.
.
And through a wood
.
.
Before a stile leads us across a road
.
.
And down again into Misarden Park
.
.
Janet draws everybody's attention to an icy road
.
.
Then we head back up to Miserden for lunch
.
.
Duly refreshed we start our afternoon walk
.
.
Heading past the mansion owned by the Wills familly
.
.
And round the lake in the valley
.
.

A brief level stretch
.
.
Before heading down Bull Banks
.
.
Let us in on the joke ladies!
.
.
Enjoying the late afternoon sun
.
.
Before we lose it as we cross the bottom of the valley
.
.
Over the bridge at the bottom
.
.
And up a steep hill through tangled trees
.
.
Then across to Sudgrove
.
.
And back to Miserden
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
