Eastcombe - Hyding in Toadsmoor

Wed 14 January 2009

.
Not the most sparkling bunch of photos. The weather saw to that
.
Di takes the menu round getting orders for lunch
.
.
As we get ready for our walk
.
.
In the rather icy car park of the Lamb at Eastcombe
.
.
We set off through the village in a damp mist
.
.
Heading down into Bussage
.
.
And along the side of the Toadsmoor Valley
.
.
A difficult stile where gentleman John lends a helping hand
.
.
Then we head down to St Marys where we cross the busy A419
.
.
Another gentleman recrosses to help our back marker over
.
.
And we take the bridge over the canal
.
.
Before walking past the old mill
.
.
It's now uphill with the mill behind us
.
.
And a rather plump sheep watching on
.
.
The final drag up the hill to Hyde
.
.
Where we stop for coffee
.
.
Before heading back down Knapp Lane
.
.
Into the valley and over the River Frome
.
.
We now pass under the main road and railway
.
.
Before finding our way up the other side of Toadsmoor
.
.
Over a stile
.
.
And through the woods
.
.
On a fine day we would have good views into Toadsmoor
.
.
But today it's heads down and back up the hill to Eastcombe
.
.
Pausing before the final climb back up the road
.
.

Well it adds a bit of colour to the photos - and I told them not to trust the leader!
.
.
After lunch we stagger out of the Lamb. Heather clutches the door for support
.
.
.
Photos and captions thanks once again to Richard
.
.
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
