Ramblers Resolution

Thu 1 January 2009

A happy New Year to all our visitors - leave us a message in the Guest Book!
.
Joe runs through his customary welcome speech as we start from Splatt Bridge in Frampton-on-Severn
.
.
Setting off along the Sharpness Canal
.
.
Under the watchful eye of a swan
.
.
To Cambridge Arms Bridge
.
.
Which we cross soon coming to this very old cottage
.
.
A pause at a new bridge to take in the view
.
.
Before we head back along the River Cam
.
.
Another stop for Joe to point out points of interest
.
.
Which includes this icy stretch of water
.
.
Coffee break
.
.
And a chance to sign up some potential new members
.
.
Before we head back across fields
.
.
And along the edge of Nebrow Hill
.
.
Should a gate on a footpath be chained up?
.
.
Our route takes us past the boat club
.
.
To Frampton Lakes where we spot a black swan
.
.
And settle down for lunch
.
.
Watched by some cormorants
.
.
Too late for lunch we spot this dead fish as our afternoon walk begins
.
.
With Frampton Court and a flock of geese to our left
.
.
We head towards Saul well wrapped up in the icy temperatures
.
.
Across more frozen fields
.
.
And by a frozen lock gate
.
.
We reach the road
.
.

And head along to Saul Church
.
.
Before reaching the towpath of the Stroudwater Canal
.
.
Something to do with global warming
.
.
We cross the canal at Saul Junction and look back up the Stroudwater Canal
.
.
An aptly named boat belonging to the Canal Trust
.
.
We continue along the canal to Frampton Church
.
.
Eventually arriving back at Splatt Bridge
.
.
.
Photos and captions thanks again to Richard

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
