Berkeley circular

Wed 26 November 2008

.
Maurice in contemplative mood as he leads us off
.
.
From the Mariners Arms in Berkeley
..
.
Heading out of town
.
.
Along Berkeley Pill
.
.
Around a recently ploughed field
.
.
Stopping on the banks of the Severn
..
.
Before heading along the river to Sharpness
.
.
Where coffee is taken - Ray has come well prepared
.
.
Some find a convenient seat to look at the view
.
.
While Di shares her cereal bar with a dog who has joined us for the day
.
.
Our route takes us past the docks with its warehouses
.
.
And round towards Newtown
.
.
Before we take to the fields again
.
.
Heather demonstrating her recently acquired skill of walking with four walking poles
.
.
A hold up as we negotiate a difficult stile
.
.
And we are strung out across rolling countryside
.
.
A reminder that we are in nuclear territory - a rail terminal for waste
.
.
Then we continue in the afternnoon sun
.
.
With views over to the Cotswold Hills
.
.
And our last stile before lunch at the Mariners
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
