Long way to Haresfield Beacon

Thu 20 November 2008

.
We listen attentively to Carole - except that is for Brian who practices with his new poles
.
.
Then head off through Randwick Woods
..
.
Eventually coming out on the side of the hill with views over the Severn
.
.
Our path downhill takes us through a narrow stile
.
.
As we cross the valley
.
.
A tree still hanging on to its leaves
..
.
The view now to Stroud
.
.
We drop further down the valley
.
.
Passing a small pond looking up to Ruscombe
.
.
Coffee break on a handy seat
.
.
More seating provided
.
.
Then we head into the woods
.
.
Continuing to climb
.
.
Coming out onto a field with John showing the way
.
.
As we continue uphill
.
.
More climbing
.
.
Bringing us to a tricky stile - they haven't noticed the gap to one side
.
.
Striking a nonchalant pose
.
.
Norman looks threatening
.
.
Then a climb up to Haresfield Beacon
.
.
With views across to May Hill
.
.
And the Malverns
.
.

With time to stand and stare
.
.
Before heading back to the cars
.
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
