The car park of Huntley Garden Centre - a clever plot to make sure all 27 of us are back before closing time
.
.
Then it's straight into the churchyard for some divine help
.
.
A quick look inside
.
.
And we start to climb
.
.
Into the woods
.
.
A pause for the view from Brights Hill
.
.
Then we reach the foothills of May Hil
.
.
We are given a choice. Stay here - which three do
.
.
Or climb to the top
.
.
Which we soon reach
.
.
To be rewarded by views of the river Severn
.
.
Coffee stop as we start downhill on the Wysis Way
.
.
Followed by a muddy track through the woods - four fall over - pictures all censored
.
.
Eventually reaching Glasshouse
.
.
Then round by the lake
.
.
Some autumn colours
.
.
And round a ploughed field
.
.
That farmhouse at Taynton looks old
.
.
We continue under a canopy of trees
.

.
Mike setting a brisk pace
.
.
Soon reaching Tibberton Church
.
.
Where lunch is taken
.
.
Mausoleums
.
.
And family tombs are examined
.
.

And then Mike dons a yellow for a walk along a road as we leave the Wysis Way
.
.
They have been hanging their washing out
.
.
Heading downhill - May Hill in front
.
.
Stiles to slow us down
.
.
And look who is coming to greet us
.
.
The ring leader
.
.
If only I could get into that pocket
.
.
We pass a cottage with an overgrown garden
.
.
As we now follow the road
.
.
Eventually taking a detour to Soloman's Tump
.
.
Then heading across a golf course
.
.
Past a house preparing for Xmas - not sure where the aeroplane appears in the Christmas story
.
.
Before heading back up the hill to the garden centre, tea and cakes
.
.
Stage 6 on 3 January starts at 9:30 please note, when we cross Gloucester by the cathedral to catch a bus to Highnam. We then walk on a fairly level route through Highnam Woods nature reserve to Tibberton, to rejoin the Wysis Way to Gloucester via Lassington Hill, Over (ice creams) and Oxleaze. See the walks programme for more details. All are most welcome on this circular walk.
.
There will be more walks in March, May, July, September and November 2009.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds and beyond. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
