Crickley Hill circular

Sat 25 October 2008

.
The car park at Crickley Hill. Alex has run out of fingers and toes to count the number on her walk
.
.
Anyway about 26 of us pause to admire the view down into the valley
..
.
Before setting off along the Cotswold Way
.
.
A quick look over her shoulder to ensure everybody is following
.
.
And after the hazardous crossing of the A417 we head uphill past the Air Balloon
.
.
And along the ridge towards Birdlip
..
.
The lakes at Witcombe with a foreground of colourful autumn trees
.
.
And a pause for coffee
.
.
With Gloucester Cathedral in the distance
.
.
Our path takes us downhill
.
.
To Witcombe
.
.
Walking through a vineyard - those two look thirsty
.
.
And across fields
.
.
To the Bentham sports club
.
.
A pause to re-group
.
.
Before we follow a path across wasteland
.
.
One of our younger members (the one in pink of course) stops to pat another new arrival
.
.
Then we stagger up a slight incline for the lunch stop
.
.
Must be a midget living in this property
.
.
Could be these two
.
.
We are joined by another enthusiastic rambler
.
.
Before we stop for a drink at the Cheese Rollers in Shurdington
.
.
Allen tries to hide behind a bean pole as we walk through some allotments
.
.
Then we begin the day's major climb
.
.

With views over Leckhampton Hill
.
.
Before we return to Crickley Hill and the cars
.
.
.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
