southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Waterside Walk from Saul Thu 16 October 2008 . |
| A
hand is raised - the problem of a back marker is resolved . . |
| And
Kathy leads us out of Saul .. . |
| Stepping
out along a short stretch of road . . |
| Before
heading across fields where John demonstrates an elegant technique over
a stile . . |
| Eventually
reaching the banks of the Severn where we stop . . |
| To
take in the view .. . |
| After
which we follow the river bank . . |
| Before
high tide stops us . . |
| And
we have to cut a corner back to the canal towpath . . |
| Ever
had a feeling of being watched? . . |
| We
cross the canal and head down the other side . . |
| Pausing
for coffee . . |
| And
to watch a Willow Trust boat go by . . |
| We
then head over to Frampton where we walk round the green . . |
| And
into Frampton Court, a family of swans on the lake . . |
| The
manor house with its Countryside Alliance signs . . |
| A
pleasant ramble across fields . . |
| Brings
us to the river Frome . . |
| And
some signs of the old Stroudwater Canal . . |
| Which
soon become more obvious . . |
| As
we watch a narrow boat comes out of the boat park - marina to the
boatees amongst us . . |
| We
cross the Sharpness Canal over Junction Bridge . . |
| And
continue along the river bank back to Saul . . |
| . | |||

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. | |||
