Leckhampton Hill

Wed 8 October 2008

.
Low in numbers but high in enthusiasm on a sunny day, Allen, the replacement leader welcomes us
.
.
And we head off along Leckhampton Hill
..
.
Looking down to Gloucester
.
.
Before pausing at the Devil's Chimney
.
.
The well known local landmark
.
.
With views now over Cheltenham
..
.
As we continue along the hill
.
.
The Cotswolds stretching away to the horizon
.
.
We start to descend
.
.
Through open pastureland
.
.
Towards Seven Springs - yes there is a spring there somewhere
.
.
A brief walk up the road before we find a path to
.
.
Coberley where we stop for lunch in the churchyard
.
.
Before continuing along the valley
.
.
Guided by a flexible sign
.
.
Then over the hill
.
.
And back to the cars
.
.
Where we have been joined by the local dog walkers
.
.

.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
