Kingscote and Ozleworth

Wed 3 September 2008

.
With Hunters Hall behind him Ray greets us on what promises to be a rather doubtful day weather wise
.
.
In the distance we catch sight of a herd of refugees from South America
.
.
As we head down the valley to Ozleworth
.
.
We climb back up the hill
.
.
With a short break to adjust clothing to meet changing conditions
..
.
Before stopping for coffee in Ozleworth churchyard
.
.
Eventually leaving in bright sunlight
.
.
Passing round the front of Ozleworth Manor
.
.
And back down to Ozleworth Bottom
.
.
The trees and house make for a colourful picture
.
.
We head along the valley
.
.
Over a stream
.
.
And along a reasonable woodland track
.
.
Eventually skirting a couple of ponds where the going becomes very muddy
.
.
As we make our way up to Lasborough Ray points out the remains of an old ice house
.
.
The track takes us past this lake
.
.
Lasborough Park Mansion
.
.
And a cattle grid
.
.
After which we have views over Lasborough Manor and attendant chapel
.
.
Before pausing to examine this feature which Ray explains is an old Mott and Bailey fortification
.
.
Not a sign altered by a vandal but the Local Authority utilising another sign to warn of badger holes
.
.
A final climb brings us back to the cars and a pub lunch
.
.

.
Photos and captions thanks again to Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
