Cam Peak and Uley

Sat 30 August 2008

.
As we stand in Cam Peak car park it is with a certain amount of trepidition that we look uphill
.
.
But not to worry Maurice and Dave have devised a walk that takes us round the bottom of the hill
.
.
Passing through a farmyard
.
.
Before heading up the valley towards Uley
.
.
Mike stops to examine a horse box - could make a good camper van!
..
.
They know how to welcome visitors round here
.
.
But we still stop for coffee at the Millennium Green - guess who won the race for the seats
.
.
We continue to circumnavigate Uley
.
.
A bit of encouragement for back marker Bill
.
.
As we walk in the direction of Owlpen
.
.
But a change of direction takes us over a stream
.
.
And into Uley village
.
.
We then start a gentle climb up Uley Bury
.
.
Pausing to look back over the village
.
.
And stopping for lunch at the top. While others eat and drink Dave carefully considers his apple
.
.
Some sleep, and others chat and look at the view over Downham Hill
.
.
Then we head off downhill
.
.
Reaching the bottom with views over the Severn Vale
.
.
We avoid an impassable field of maize by walking through some horse paddocks
.
.
Then make use of a smart new bridge which has recently replaced a decaying one
.
.
Walking round the bottom of Cam Long Down
.
.
Before heading up the slope
.
.

To this point where Dave invites us to pick a path
.
.
Some head up Cam Peak where they stand on top
.
.
And watch those who have opted for the easier route return to the car park
.
.
.
Photos and captions thanks again to Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
