Miserden and Wishanger

Wed 27 August 2008

.
The car park of the Carpenters Arms is where Jacqui starts her walk
.
.
And we set off across the fields to Sudgrove
.
.
Passing around the edge of the village
.
.
We continue our walk
.
.
With views across the valley to Througham
..
.
And down into another secluded valley
.
.
Past the dovecot at Honeycombe Farm
.
.
Before we take a sharp right just before The Camp
.
.
Then it's down into Wishanger
.
.
Take a picture of that they flower they said - so I did!
Mike writes, "It's the common mullein (Verbascum thapsus)" - see some amazing photography and micrography here.
.
.
Before another pause to admire wild flowers
.
.
Followed by a coffee stop amongst some new mown hay
.
.
Which proves quite difficult to walk over
.
.
But which takes us to a road
.
.
Which leads down into the woods of Miserden Park
.
.
A steep climb calls for a brief stop
.
.
While a wobbly stile calls for caution
.
.
A tree which never fails to intrigue!
.
.
Before we make the final climb
.
.
Back to the pub and lunch
.
.

.
Photos and captions thanks again to Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
