| A
millennium memorial comemorates the founding of the village of Doynton . . |
| Where
we start our walk at the Cross House Inn . . |
| Heading
out through ripening maize . . |
| And
across fields . . |
| Towards
Dyrham Park and its famous old mansion .. . |
| We
then follow part of the Cotswold Way up the hill . . |
| And
through fields of wheat . . |
| Towards
Hinton Hill . . |
| Where
Jacqui, our leader, tells us something of the battle which took place
here in days gone by . . |
| Across
the valley in Dyrham Park is the herd of deer . . |
| While
the spot chosen for coffee gives us views over the Severn Vale . . |
| A
little road walking takes us back down the hill . . |
| Our
route takes us over stiles . . |
| And
across bridges . . |
| Until
Doynton Church appears in front of us . . |
| And
we walk through the village to the pub for lunch . . |

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. | |||
