southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Eastcombe and Bisley Wed 23 July 2008 Phew! Summer has arrived - for the time being anyway. . |
| The
important thing when the sun shines is to put on plenty of sun cream . . |
| This
done we leave Eastcombe and head down into the Toadsmoor Valley . . |
| Then
up the other side stopping to admire the many wild flowers . . |
| Before
climbing a stile at the top .. . |
| Also
important in strong sun are the hats - they come in many different forms
for rambling . . |
| Our
path takes us through Lypiatt Park . . |
| To
Bisley . . |
| Where
we stop for coffee - and to break Bruno out of the famous lock up . . |
| But
50 is nifty (any other ideas please put on the message board) . . |
| Just
walking past this one today . . |
| Bisley
Church Spire- on the shortest day in the early morning the spire casts a
shadow over Minchinhampton Common . . |
| A
colourful field of ramblers and wild flowers . . |
| Followed
by a field of wheat . . |
| Heading
back along the valley to Eastcombe we pass a highland pony stud . . |
| And
look across to Lypiatt Park once home of Dick Whittington and more
recently Lynn Chadwick . . |
| Then
Eastcombe comes into view . . |
| And
our final destination . . |
| For
lunch . . |
| . | |||
| Photos
and captions thanks to Richard, who also leads the walk with Di.
. . |
| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. | |||
