Chalford evening stroll

Wed 16 July 2008

.
The prospect of Jacky's evening stroll and two pub stops attract eight of us to the car park at Chalford Social Club
.
.
And we set off through France Lynch
.
.
And into Chalford, past the school - didn't have a sign outside when I went there - needed for the war!
.
.
We now have a long descent through the village
..
.
Into the valley
.
.
Pretty old - but they still use donkies arouind here don't they?
.
.
Half an hour from our start we reach our first pub stop - The New Red Lion
.
.
Where we sit in the garden in the evening sunshine
.
.
Before starting to climb back up the hill
.
.
And along the side of the valley
.
.
Don't think that will scare anything!
.
.
As we walk we look down on the little cottages
.
.
And catch a glimpse of Brunel's viaduct
.
.
Then head out into the fields
.
.
Eyed suspiciously by a mother deer and her babies across the valley
.
.
Before we head through the woods
.
.
And back into France Lynch
.
.
Where dinner awaits
.
.
Though some find the chairs a bit low
.
.

.
Thanks to Richard for photos and captions.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
