.
Tim starts the walk - John looks down and Olivia looks up for help!
.
.
We set off along the Monarchs Way with Bledisloe House on our left
.
.
Passing round a field of wheat
.
.
A reminder that it is summer even if the weather raises doubts
..
.
Another splendid building - the Agricultural College
.
.
Now what are these used for?
.
.
Pausing to cross the Tetbury - Cirencester road
.
.
Our path then once more taking us along the side of fields
.
.
To coffee on an old railway bridge - 92.42 to Tim, a railway enthusiast
.
.
Another stop as we cross an old canal bridge where Tim talks about one of his other interests, canals
.
.
We then walk through Ewen, passing a house with a couple of old cars
.
.
Then comes our first sight of the River Thames
.
.
A gate causes a bit of a problem with some people getting too impatient to wait
.
.
Crossing the main road in Kemble
.
.
And pause on the railway bridge before heading into the pub for lunch
.
.
After lunch we leave the pub exchanging some banter with one of the locals
.
.
And head along the Thames Path
.
.
Some evidence of the river still showing
.
.
As we are followed by a herd of cows
.
.
With some stray planes from the cancelled airshow overhead
.
.

 }
A detour takes us to another spring feeding into the Thames
.
.
Before we climb the stile taking us back over the main road
.
.
Our path takes us under the nose of this cow, which we soon realise is a bull!
.
.
Taking us to the source of the Thames
.
.
Or is this the source?
.
Thanks to Richard for photos and captions. He writes, " Here are some photos of Tim's walk on Saturday. I think we had about 18. A bit showery but could have been worse. Afraid they finish a bit abruptly at the source of the Thames but Di and I had to take a short cut back due to a prior engagement. Other members on the walk had cameras and might have some pictures of the final loop round to the Tunnel House". Please let Mike know if you can help.
.
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
