Bisley Cake Walk

Sat 28 June 2008

.
Alex displays her medal awarded for completing the Cotswold Care midnight walk (10 miles). She then came straight to our walk - well done to her and the other Group members who took part.
.
.
Something to laugh at here as Richard introduces the Bisley Cakewalk
.
.
Then we head off into Lypiatt Park
.
.
Before dropping down into Toadsmoor
..
.
Climbing up the other side with views across Eastcombe
.
.
We walk through France Lynch
.
.
On our way down to Valley Bottom we pause to eat the cakes which Di has baked to sustain us on our way
.
.
Allen says thank you to Di (the moment caught by Bernard's camera)
.
.
Full of cake the stile seems to be a bit of a struggle
.
.
But we press on past the Old Valley Inn and up the hill
.
.
Before dropping down through the undergrowth
.
.
Then climbing to Westley Farm, looking back over our shoulders at the view down the valley and across to Chalford
.
.
Heading along the hillside the views are now over to Oakridge
.
.
Our route taking us through the Coombes
.
.
Round the edge of a riding manege
.
.
And past the church
.
.
Into Frampton Mansell
.
.
Progress is halted by a passing train
.
.
And we make our way to Whitehall Bridge
.
.
Where we stop for lunch (Bernard's photo)
.
.
Every picture tells a story - struggling to get up after lunch
.
.

Looks like a heron behind the cattle
.
.
Our path takes us past a pond full of water lillies
.
.
As we head through Iles Green
.
.
And the lovely roses
.
.
Then cross the fields along a well defined path
.
.
To Bisley where our leader has found a few steps to climb
.
.
As we head into the churchyard
.
.
And pause for breath
.
.
Then continue through the village to the cars
.
.
.
Thank you to Richard for photos and captions
.
.
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
