Bulls Cross circular

Sat 31 May 2008

.
We gather in the familiar layby at Bulls Cross for a wander round Laurie Lee country
.
.
And head off in the morning sunshine
.
.
Down into the valley past this small pond
.
.
Pausing for a rest as we reach the top on the other side
..
.
We walk along the top of the hill
.
.
Spotting this welcoming sign
.
.
And climb down into the Dillay Valley
.
.
Striding along the other side
.
.
To our first coffee break
.
.
We continue through some thick undergrowth
.
.
Before another short climb
.
.
Brings us to a wide woodland path
.
.
With views across the valley
.
.
A pause to ensure any stragglers catch up
.
.
Before passing some pretty stone cottages
.
.
And making for our second coffee stop
.
.
With a view of Slad Village
.
.
Twin sisters? No, it's mother and daughter - a good family walk
.
.

And one of our older members gathers his strength for a final slog uphill
.
.
Which turns into a bit of an obstacle course
.
.
But we reach the top and head along the ridge
.
.
With views down over Painswick just before the end of the walk
.
.
.
Photos thanks to Diana (Richard was too busy ensuring everyone kept up, although he did sit down later to do the captions).

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
