Brimscombe, Chalford and Oakridge

Sat 24 May 2008

.
Jacky prepares to lead our walk - mind that rather smart car behind you, Allen
.
.
We set off along the canal
.
.
To Chalford
.
.
Where we leave the Canal
..
.
And head up the lanes
.
.
Past hillside cottages
.
.
Before heading along the valley side
.
.
Negotiating stepping stones
.
.
And stopping at the Strawberry Banks Nature Reserve for coffee
.
.
We arrive at Oakridge with its Millennium Bus Shelter
.
.
Taking lunch leaning against the cricket pavilion
.
.
We cross the top of the hill
.
.
Before heading down into the valley
.
.
Through fields of buttercups
.
.
Passing this proud mum
.
.
And up the other side through dense undergrowth
.
.
And over hazardous stiles
.
.
At Eastcombe we pause at the village shop for icecream
.
.

Well if ever we are short of walks leaders.....
.
.
Our path takes us across Bussage playing field
.
.
Through the farm at the bottom of Brownshill
.
.
Where we spot a new arrival
.
.
Then back down the Station Banks to the cars - and yes the station was closed and demolished many years ago
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
