Brokenborough - horse country

19 March 2008

.
Jacqui leads us from the Rose and Crown at Brokenborough - yes another pub car park!
.
.
Our route takes us to a narrow footbridge
.
.
Over our first river Avon
.
.
Then the uphill part of the walk
.
.
And across a few fields
.
.
Before we catch sight of our second river Avon
.
.
Now forestry work and new fencing tell us we are in the Estcourt Estate
.
.
They even have their own Sugar Loaf
.
.
More grassy tracks make walking easy
.
.
Look Guv if you just banged a couple of nails in the bottom of your boot you wouldn't have to keep tying your laces
.
.
We continue across the Estate
.
.
Eventually reaching Shipton Moyne Church
.
.
Where we stop for coffee - mind what you do with the chicken bone Allen
.
.
And the ladies have grabbed the only seat
.
.
We cross more fields
.
.
Before we have to take to a stream
.
.
Mike tests the depth before taking the plunge
.
.
And we cross another bridge - probably another Avon
.
.
Then a short step over the fields back to Brokenborough and a pub lunch for some.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
