Painswick Hills and Mills

8 March 2008

.
Meeting place Stamages Lane CP. Free this month to compensate the good burgers of Painswick for the loss of the A46
.
.
And Kathy leads us off towards the Cotswold Way
.
.
Following the path towards Edge and Pitchcombe
.
.
We pass the old converted Washbrook Mill
.
.
Continuing up the hill on the Cotswold Way
.
.
On TV they transport the heroine back to the 1980's. Now a bunch of ramblers goes back to the 1970's!
.
.
A pause outside the Edgmoor Inn
.
.
Followed by a stiff climb
.
.
With views over Stroud
.
.
Before heading through the woods behind Pitchcombe
.
.
And down through the village
.
.
We catch sight of Pitchcombe church as we cross the Gloucester Road
.
.
Then walk down into the Painswick Valley
.
.
Past a house with a number of old mill relics in the garden
.
.
And along the side of the valley
.
.
Beside this stream
.
.
Crossing a little bridge
.
.
Before heading back up the hill to Painswick
.
.

.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
