Foston's Ash figure of eight

23 February 2008

.
Bill prepares to lead a walk which is to take us from Fostons Ash
.
.
Towards Sheepscombe
.
.
First through Saltridge Wood
.
.
Then into Lord's and Lady's woods
.
.
Before stopping on Sheepscombe Common for coffee
.
.
Then we head down into the valley
.
.
Past this unusual tree whose latin name we have forgotten but which is a native of america
.
.
And into Workmans Wood
.
.
Where we stop
.
.
At the ponds
.
.
Before making our way to the National Trust information shed
.
.
And a quick stop to read the informative notice boards
.
.
Then a steady climb up the hill
.
.
Pausing half way for a break
.
.
And to scratch our heads as we leave Workmans Wood
.
.
And head back to the pub for lunch- someone should tell the ones in front that first one in buys the drinks!
.
.
After lunch, with numbers slightly depleted, we head towards Climperwell
.
.
Heading up the valley
.
.
Towards Brimpsfield
.
.
Looking towards the Pagoda type structure at the polo pitch - think I prefer last years bus!
.
.

We skirt round Brimpsfield
.
.
And walk back across country
.
.
Heading down the valley to Climperwell again
.
.
And retracing our steps to the car park
.
.
For sunnier pictures of the walk check out March last year.
.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
