Two sides of the Frome Valley

16 February 2008

.Hope all you particpants have memorised all the information on the canals and railways that Tim gave you. Here are a few photos to help you.
Tim introduces the walk. Alan strikes a nonchalant pose
.
.
We cross the canal by a metal bridge
.
.
And head for the old station at Dudbridge where Tim talks about the railway
.
.
Enlisting the help of a member of the audience he uses a tape to demonstrate the width of Brunel's broad guage
.
.
We walk the cycle track towards Nailsworth.
.
.
But soon head up the hill to Selsley
.
.
Then down over an old stone bridge
.
.
Crossing the A419
.
.
Before picking up the cycle track again this time towards Stonehouse
.
.
At Ryeford we pause on the bridge while Tim tells us about the canal
.
.
And to watch some ducks making patterns in the green algae on the canal
.
.
Before we head along the road under the Wycliffe Bridge
.
.
A pause for coffee
.
.
Before we head along the Cotswold Way.
.

.
Down into the valley and up the other side into Far Westrip
.
.
A quick break at the top
.
.
Before returning to our starting point through Cashes Green
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
