Boules Evening

Wed 25 June 2008

.
Thirteen South Cots members continue their investigations into extreme sports
.
.
At the Three Horseshoes in Frampton with an evening of Boules
.
.
After a kindly local has outlined the basic rules we start to play
.
.
Always mindful of the need to maintain a perfect playing surface - thanks for the loan of your gardener Mike
..
.
Various styles are developed
.
.
Some look more French than others
.
.
A move to the other end of the court is abandoned because the sun was in our eyes
.
.
Techniques improve as the evening wears on
.
.
Plenty of follow through from Heather
.
.
A more restrained approach from Olivia
.
.
When all the balls have been bouled heated arguments take place to decide the winner
.
.
Scores are entered on the scoreboard
.
.
And we start again
.
.
Contrasting styles - upright and concentrating, nonchalant and hand in pocket
.
.
And Kathy, who organised the evening, using plenty of backspin
.
.
Patrick takes his place in the circle
.
.
In case of dispute Mike has an extremely accurate twig
.
.
Who won? Don't really know but Olivia has some idea. So we all went back inside the pub for food to round off an enjoyable evening

.
Once again Richard is responsible for the photos and captions
.
.
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
