Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons

15 December 2007
.
Our walk takes us from the reservoir on Minchinhampton Common
.
And down towards the Chalford valley
..
Looking down and across to the other side at the Bourne
.
And to an old bridge over the canal
. .
As we walk through Butterow we pass an old toll house
.
Before pausing for coffee just below Rodborough Fort - recently having changed hands
.
Somebody is lurking behind that hedge (Yes, the photographer - ed)
.
On Rodborough Common we pause to admire the dog's Christmas tree
.
Before continuing along the Common
.
Past the belted galloway cattle, part of the Cotswold Grazing Project
.
Then we stand and look down into the valley
.
Crossing over Bear Hill, Tim, our leader, checking the traffic
.
Then pausing as we enter Manor Woods
.
And stopping again at this well known landmark
.
Before heading up the hill
.
And into Amberley
.
Don't think the poet had my garden in mind!
.
An interesting way of decorating a window
.
As we get back to the cars Tim counts us in

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
