Woodchester and Amberley

2 December 2007
.
John leads a select few on an initially wet and always hilly walk
.
We meet in the rain in a lay-by on the A46 and head up the hill towards South Woodchester
.
Pausing for a break at the top of the hill
..
Before heading across the valley
.
Over a rickity rackity bridge
.
And up the hill
.
Towards Selsley
.
Round the edge of Bown Hill
.
Pausing before we head along the driveway to the Equestrian Centre
.
Then heading downhill in the pouring rain
.
Pausing for coffee in a sheltered spot just above Crystal Fountain
.
Before heading uphill to Windsoredge
.
And downhill to Dunkirk Mill
.
Then guess what! It's back up passing Dunkirk Manor with its festive front door
.
And the court house
.

We look back across the valley - sun now shining but it was pouring with rain when we were there
.
And after walking round the Common
.
We head back down to our starting point
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
