Selsley and the Stanleys

13 October 2007

Saturday's walk goes well. A bit gloomy but there are about 20, including some new faces
.
Dave indicates the direction in which the walk will start
.
And we set off across Selsley Common
.
Then steeply down into the vale
.
Through the woods
.
Looking back at Selsley Church
.
Before continuing down the valley
.
Taking a quick break
.
And continuing past Stanley Mill
.
We take a coffee stop
.
By the river Frome - Bill contemplates a swim
.
Then it's on to Leonard Stanley with the Priory peeping out from behind its impressive gates
.
Full marks for stile style
.
We start back up the hill with views over Middleyard and Selsley
.
Into the woods again
.
Stopping for a breather at the top
.
Before Maurice and Dave lead us back across the Common to the cars

.

Photos and captions thanks to Richard

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
