Kingscote to Ozleworth Bottom

29 September 2007

An unexpectedly high turnout of 30 at Hunters Hall for Mike's walk given the miserable weather
.
And we set off in line astern down the valley
.
We climb up from Hay Bottom to Newington Bagpath
.
Passing the disused church
.
And the remains of a Motte and Bailey Fort
.
Then look across the valley to Lasborough Manor with its chapel
.
As we walk towards Lasborough Park
.
We stop to inspect the site of an old hydraulic ram
.
Before going alongside the lakes in the valley
.
Trying to avoid the mud
.
Where there is some luxurious vegetation - rather like rhubarb
.
With leaves starting to rot
.
Banana time
.
We continue along Ozleworth Bottom
.
Mike turns right here onto a neglected bridle parh and explains the muddly legal situation, before venturing along the muddy route. Mike is pleased to see that there is evidence on the ground that the correct route is being used, as described in our Book One of Walks.
.
By London Bridge we stop for Mike to explain some of its history- or does he just want to leave the field?
.
Richard examines the old bridge closely
.
Then we start the climb
.

Back up the hill towards Kingscote
.
Looking at the horns rather glad we did not have to walk through this lot!
.
.
.
Photos and captions from Richard and a few photos from Bernard

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
