Leighterton and Westonbirt

15 September 2007

..
Tim gives the pre-walk briefing, very nice weather, a few bugs around though
.
No fewer than twenty eight walkers set off across this rough field for the level figure of eight walk
.
We stop for a breather in the warm sunshine at Burdon Court Farm, although Tennis Court Farm would have been apt!
.
Mother and son
.
The views are magnificent - here the old Severn Bridge can be seen in the background
.
Typical Cotswold rural scene - hay bales and dry stone wall
.
After the wide open fields it's into the woods
.
The geese keep an eye on us - glad the footpath doesn't go through the farm!
.
After our Pub Lunch eighteen walkers meet in the car park ready for the afternoon walk (the other ten are either in the pub or have gone home)
.
The way to cross this stile would appear to be - sit on the wall
.
In the dark wood
..
And then out into the sunshine
.
We enter Westonbirt Arboretum
.
And have a drink stop in the Arboretum's shade
.
On the road back through Leighterton we admire this lovely duck pond
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
