Leckhampton, Crickley Hill and the Peak

25 August 2007

..
Alex's first job as leader is to convince us that we are not required to climb straight up the quarry face
.
Instead she has chosen a circuitious route up Leckhampton Hill
.
As we spot a group of mountain bikers riding along the top
.
Before heading through the woods
.
And across the top of the hill
.
To the path
.
Leading down through Cotswold Hills Golf Club
.
At the end of which we find this warning - a bit late!
.
Some horses remind us that there are easier ways of getting around
.
As we turn up the road
.
Look out Di - that end bites!
.
Eventually making our way along the side of the hill
.
With views down over the Severn Vale and our coffee stop
.
Where we hold a synchronized banana eating display
.
Supervised by Wendy
.
As we sit admiring the view
.
Then it's up to Crickley Hill
.

And another brief stop
.
We then head towards the Air Balloon
.
And along the side of the hill
.
On the Cotswold Way
.
With valley views in one direction
.
And Crickley Hill behind us
.
We take lunch at a popular viewing spot, The Peak
.
Where Tracey demonstrates her banana guard - used by all synchronised banana eaters - available from Amazon in yellow or pink
.
And we all take in the magnificent views
.
This one towards Crickley Hill but with some foreground interest for compositional purposes
.
We then continue into the woods
.
With dappled sunlight
.
Towards Birdlip
.
Before making our way
.
Across a stile
.
{short description of image}
And back towards the main A417
.
Once safely across
.
We head over the fields
.
And back down towards the Golf Course
.
Where, duly forewarned, we climb back up the flood damaged path
.
And at the top turn back down to the cars
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
