Bisley to Purgatory

12 May 2007

12 walkers on Richard and Diana's walk on Saturday in spite of the weather, which following early rain wasn't too bad.
.
As we leave Bisley the rain eases as we set off
.
Across the fields, still keeping to our waterproofs, and heading towards the Sydenhams.
As we descend into the valley we spot an interesting fossil
.
A few shades of green here
.
A short break to gather our breath and stragglers
.
And we walk along the sides of the valley towards Catswood with views of Piedmont
.
And the large farm up the valley
.
A pause as we come out of Catswood to enjoy the sunshine and for some to remove waterproofs.
Then we continue with our joint leader briefly to the front and Bruno hiding behind an umbrella
.
With a couple more old fossils bringing up the rear as we walk along the top of the hill
.
With views down over the Severn Vale
.
The chap in the front seems to be saying "keep away from my women"
. .
Our coffee break
.
We then pass the edge of Swifts Hill with its nature reserve
.
Before safely passing Purgatory
.
And on over to Lypiatt where we look down the Toadsmoor Valley
.
And over to Bussage
.
As we cross a field
We look back up at Lypiatt Park
.
And down again towards the Toadsmoor Valley
.
As we head downhill
.
Through the undergrowth
.
Walking along the valley bottom we duck under a fallen tree
.
Then head out of the woods
.
And up the valley by the stream
.
Through a kissing gate
.
Into Bisley
.
Where the cottage gardens are blooming and the Stirrup Cup is beckoning
.
Photos and captions above from Richard, and those below from Bernard

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
