Randwick Woods circular walk

28 April 2007

Cynthia our leader greets us

.
In the popular starting point at the Cripplegate car park near Haresfield Beacon
.
Our route takes us along the Cotswold Way
.
Looking down through a gap in the trees towards Stonehouse and the River Severn
.
The (only) bluebell picture
.
We press on
.
Through golden sunlit beechwoods
.
A chance for our jungle fighters to clear a sapling from our path
.
Before heading down to Randwick Church
.
And looking down over Stroud
.
We queue for a stile
.
As we look towards Ruscombe
.
And as we leave Randwick
. .
We cross another stile
.
To head down into the valley
.
Towards Whiteshill
.
A coffee stop
.
With the summer hats very much in evidence
.
We move on with views of the other side of Whiteshill Church
.
And up to Painswick
.
Three little maids from school
.
No. 17 got a little curious - I reckon about 90 minutes at gas mark 6
.
A sign of times gone by
.
As we climb the hill
.
Plenty of wild garlic this year
.
Looking down another secret Cotswold valley
.
We reach the Bird in Hanh crossroads
.
And walk along the side of the woods
.
Watched by another curious youngster
.
Before we reach the cars and say our goodbyes
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
