Foston's Ash figure of eight

31 March 2007

A good walk with 20 plus walkers and a very good meal at the Fostons Ash
..
Bill, our leader, outlines the walk in the car park of the Fostons Ash
.
And we set off down the road with the pub in the background
.
We cross the fields to Overtown Farm
.
Pausing on the road
.
Before taking to the fields round Overtown
.
We look across the valley to Cranham in the distance
.
As we head along an old farm track
.
All eyes on the back marker, Bruno, as we wait for him to catch up
.
Then it's into Saltridge Woods
.
Where we make way for a horse and rider
.
Before heading along the edge of the wood
.
And into Lord's and Lady's Wood
. .
So that's how the NHS is reducing waiting lists
.
Continuing down through the woods
.
Towards Sheepscombe
.
Stopping on Sheepscombe Common with views over Painswick
.
For coffee
.
And a chat
.
We look across at the woods behind Sheepscombe
.
And down into Sheepscombe itself
.
Before leaving the Common
.
And descending into the valley
.
At Far End and the Ebworth Estate
.
A pretty little cottage
.
Primroses coming on nicely
.
And into Workmans Wood
.
We walk along the forest track
.
Looking down the valley
.
Enjoying the late morning sunshine
.
And past a shaded pond
.
Where we see some more horses as we pause to take in our surroundings
.
Then we head back up the valley
.
And out of the woods
.
Before walking along the road back to the pub for lunch
.
After lunch we continue on our figure of eight walk through Climperwell Woods
.
Pausing below Climperwell Farm
.

Before heading towards Brimpsfield
.
We told Bill to turn left - but he went right -it was the sound of the sea that confirmed his mistake.........
.
We pause at the Polo Yard
.
Then cut across to the road coming out of Brimpsfield
.
A word in your ear - watch out for the ones carrying sticks!
.
We head across the fields anxiously watching some distant storm clouds
.
Passing a derelict muck spreader - would look nice on my decking as a planter
.
A good old Cotswold Farmhouse
.
Along a tree lined path
.
Then its waterproofs on as we get a few spots of rain
.
But not for long as the sun comes out
.
As we complete our circuit to Climperwell
.
And back up the hill to the cars
.
.
.
Another photographic report from Richard - thank you once again.
