Rodmarton circular

24 March 2007

Starting from fringe of Rodmarton on the Cherington road, Tim leads a 6 mile morning walk via Tarlton Down, the Macmillan Way and the Monarchs Way.
.
Tim leans on his stick waiting for us to assemble on the roadside near Rodmarton
.
And we head off into a small wood, seemingly a play area for local children
.
We cross a field of growing crops with a well defined path
.
And walk down into some woods
.
Through a gate nearing the end of its useful life
.
Now along a rutted track
.
Following the MacMillan Way
.
A busy farmer
.
We walk on over the fields
.
And pause for coffee
.
Then its off again, now following the Monarchs Way
.
We all squeeze through the kissing gate although larger ramblers can be accommodated here
. .
I told Tim not to let them see the fear in his eyes but I didn't think he would go this far
.
Having a nice roll to get rid of an itchy winter coat
.
Looking down into a Cotswold dry valley
.
As we walk downhill
.
With Marie leading us back along the valley
.
Past some daffs
.
Into Rodmarton with its cottages
.
Church
.
And front doors peeping from behind hedges
.
Eventually reaching the cars
.
Pausing to thank Tim before heading for home
