Thrupp to the Heavens

27 February 2007

Heavens Horns and Wasa Wasa is the intriguing title of Bernard's walk
.
The layby at Thrupp, our meeting place, and Bernard leads us off up the hill
.
Looking back across the valley to Bagpath
.
On reaching the Heavens we enjoy the rather murky view of Stroud
.
Which doesn't improve as we head round the hill
.
We then descend through the woods towards the Horns
. .
Where the downhill slope becomes very slippery
.
And the fields are a sea of mud
.
We look at the view back down the Horns
.
And spot this stream cascading down the hillside
.
We climb up another difficult path
.
It's easier on four legs - he says
.
The final few yards
.
And we reach Wasa Wasa
.
Looking back down over Stroud
.
On to Middle Lypiatt - is the clock wrong or are we running late?
.
Going down the hill we pass a roadside spring
.
And some colourful spring flowers
.
And we are now looking down into Toadsmoor
.
We now face another hazardous descent
.
Which becomes a serious challenge, but we get down safely
.
Passing this house with its garden stream
.
Then walking past Toadsmoor Lake
.
An interesting garden ornament
.
And a pretty window
.
As we head through Toadsmoor
.
Passing this woodland fungus - yes the photo is up the right way
.
As we head along the side of the valley
.
Bernard leading the charge for home
.
Tried to get this fellow to join the Ramblers - might become a beautiful princess - please post possible names on the message board
.
Now we walk along the canal
.
With the river Frome on our other side
.
And pass through Brimscombe Port
.
On our way back to the cars
.
.
Photographed and described by Richard.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
