Alderley to Ozelworth

24 February 2007

Richard writes, "I managed to take 120 shots on this walk and they were all of reasonable quality. But looking on the bright side I have managed to thin them down a bit. Not a bad turn out considering the weather forecast and we only had one brief shower."
..
It's back to school for the South Cots as we meet our leader Joe at Rose Hill School Alderley
.
Then head off along the Cotswold Way
.
Much improved in places
.
Our path now takes us up the valley towards Tresham
.
Pausing by a pond for stragglers to catch up
. .
Then climbing on up
.
With views back down the valley
.
We stop for coffee at the Tresham millennium memorial
.
Before walking through the village - obviously ramblers living in this house
.
A colourful sign - somebody told me they were two tits
.
We pause to look across the valley
.
And Joe points out areas of interest
.
As we look down the valley towards Wootton under Edge
.
And across to Ozleworth
.
Now bathed in afternoon sun
.
We pause again
.
Before heading down
.
Into Ozleworth Bottom
.
Where we choose our preferred way of crossing a stream
.
Before heading up hill
.
Pausing to look back down the valley
.
Then seeing Joe disappearing in the distance we resist the temptation to head in the opposite direction
.
And press on up the valley
.
To find him sitting on a fence
.
Our path now takes us past London Bridge - try selling this one to the Yanks
.
Where again we are faced with a number of options for crossing the stream
.
So we send our shortest rambler to test its depth
.
This seems an interesting conversation - what is Alex saying to Norman? Answers on the Message Board please
.
We climb up towards Ozleworth House
.
Skirting the garden
.
Some interesting foliage
.
To the churchyard for lunch
.
With snowdrops and statues - woman with micro lite on her back
.
And a wall to lean on
.
Afterwards a quick look round the church
.
With its stained glass
.
And candles
.
We start our afternoon walk
.
Past another part of the house
.
The main part hiding behind this flowering tree
.
A pause as it starts to rain
.
Then round past another large house
.
And along to Newark Park
.
Seen heading for the car wash
.
More views of Wootton under Edge
.
Then we follow the Cotswold Way
.
Back to Alderley
.
The school and our cars
.
.
Sequence photographed and described by Richard once again! How does he do it?

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
