Didmarton Walk Cancelled - or was it?

22 February 2007

Richard reports, "Arrived at meeting place to find Caroline on her own - very worried about Jim who is not too well. Weather foul so we thought it would be best to cancel. Then Bruno turned up full of enthusiasm, so we sent Caroline home and the South Cots wet weather walkers set off again. Pictures not too good I am afraid what with water on the lens and bad light but here are a few reasonably acceptable ones."
..
Despite losing our leader with illness three of us decide to walk and head off in the pouring rain towards Didmarton
.
Pausing briefly for coffee - sorry about the rain on the lens
.
And eventually reaching Oldbury-on-the-Hill and the church of St. Arilds
.
Where Bruno is tempted to ring the bell
.
And they seem to have a bit of a damp problem
.
The makeshift alter
.
Then we walk back across Park Wood Farm and some expensive horses
.
To the cars and then on to the Royal Oak at Leighterton where we heard Jim had left some money behind the bar

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
