		We start from Splatt Bridge on the edge of Frampton-on-Severn with a view of the church. .
		Joe explains about the engineering feat of building the Gloucester Sharpness canal, most of which is well above the level of the surrounding land. .
		The swans have heard it all before .
		What could be finer than to walk on this glorious morning .
		The towpath is part of the National Cycle Network, as shown on this splendid signpost .
		Gone fishin' .
		One of the many former bridge keepers' cottages .
		Just the job for young children to ride .
		Joe gets a move on and soon we reach the edge of Cambridge, with Slimbridge church in sight .
		Ryalls Lane with adjacent drainage ditch .
		Joe meets a young family he knows as we are about to enter newish woodland .
		Which was planted a few years ago on a little island created when the river Cam was rerouted. .
		We enjoy going round .
		And can only image what it will be like in the Spring .
		Joe suggests we have the group shot .
		On the bridge near the George Inn at Cambridge .
		And he's off again - keep up! .
		Joe points out the platforms built for disabled fishermen .
		And asks us to note that the flood defences are higher on the right, so that the land towards Frampton will take any flood water, rather than Cambridge .
		We now pass through fairly new woodland, with lots of young oak trees, near to Nebrow Hill (13m) .
		Ornithologists spot flocks of finches in distant trees .
		Suzanne swaps notes about the make up of the flock with another bird watcher .
		There is a little coniferous planting here and there .
		Old spots are spotted .
		Back in Frampton winter colours show up well against ancient brickwork .
		A nearly finished restoration .
		Our picnic spot by Frampton Lakes .
		Joe has laid on some seating for our picnic stop .
		We don't stop long as a biting wind has sprung up .
		More ornithologists with some smart kit .
	Off we go past the grand gates .
	Until we reach Walk Bridge - which will need to be raised to allow boats to go east towards the Thames one day .
	Joe shows us St Andrews Church at Whitminster, and tells us a ghostly tale - true! .
	Returning over Junction Bridge we see both Willow Trust boats tied up .
	Anyone fancy a ride? .
	Things are looking black, so .
	The charms of the Saul Junction Heritage Centre are too strong to resist .
	Where we have a refreshing drink and a warm up, and admire the excellent exhibition put on by the Cotswold Canals Trust before striding briskly back through worsening weather back to the cars.

		As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat.
