Nailsworth to Kingscote

16 December 2006

Bruno is our leader today for an all day walk
.
We prepare to leave Cossack Square in Nailsworth
.
We pass the water wheel at Ruskin Mill on a misty morning
.
There's plenty to photograph
.
Very atmospheric
.
Pausing to re-group
.
Past more well kept mill buildings
.
We continue on past an interesting piece of modern sculpture
.
And the old trout farm
.
Then we follow the stream to Horsley
.
Where our leader, Bruno, contacts the pub with our lunchtime order
.
Someone has got the Christmas spirit
.
We leave Horsley through the woods
.
Sometimes bathed in sunshine
.
Sometimes bathed in mud
.
Coffee break, and the Group's champion lardy eater shows how it is done
.
Then we reach the top of the hill
.
And walk in brilliant sunshine
.
Towards Kingscote
.
Its church
.
And lunch
.
After which we circle back round the village
.
Across rolling countryside
.
Silhouetted on the horizon
.
And watched by sheep
.
Across a difficult stream
.
And up into the woods
.
Our path takes us over a stile
.
And back to Horsley where the local soccer team is doing battle
.
Spotted in a garage
.
Sorry kids, they have lynched Father Christmas
.
From Horsley we head to Downend
.
Before crossing fields in the late afternoon sun
.
And back to Nailsworth
.
Thanks to Richard and Bernard for the photos and captions.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
