southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Chalford, Bisley and Toadsmoor 12 November 2006 Eleven of us had a very good walk. Weather was a bit mixed which forced some of the group into a pub at lunchtime but we also had some good sunshine which brought out the Autumn colours. . |
| After
observing a minute's silence of remembrance, our leader, Jackie, leads
us from the King and Castle to the canal . |
| And we are
soon passing a house with some rather interesting window ornaments . |
| Then the
famous roundhouse at Chalford . |
| And then a
reminder of remembrance Sunday as churchgoers line up for the usual
parade . |
| We continue
along the canal . |
| To Baker's
Mill . |
| Where we
look across the lake . |
| And spot
this fellow in the garden . |
| Two grumpy
old men plod up the hill . |
| As we head
towards Iles Green . |
| Where we
stop for coffee . |
| Then head
off along narrow lanes in the late morning sun . |
| Towards
Bisley as the sky slowly darkens . |
| Giving the
famous spire a dramatic backdrop . |
| After lunch
we head down the Toadsmoor Valley . |
| Where the
sun, now reappeared, makes the most of the Autumn colours . |
| Crossing the
valley and looking back . |
| Then we spot
the lake through the trees . |
| A
chance for the photographer to do a self-portrait - although I thought I
had more hair! . |
| Then along
the other side of the valley and back to the cars . |

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. |
