Cam Peak circular

18 October 2006

A foggy morning for Ray as he starts a midweek walk from Cam Peak
.
We climb Cam Long Down on the much improved Cotswold Way
.
Smart waymarks and good surfaces
.
Cam Peak in the background is now bypassed by the National Trail
.
There's a brilliant view from here
.
On a clear day
.
The route down is now zig-zag alpine pass fashion
.
Easier than straight down
.
Morning!
.
Chinks of light towards Downham Hill
.
Near Uley Bury we stop for a quick break
.
And by the time we pose at the far end, the light has improved some more
.
Down we go
.
Into Uley
.
For a proper break
.
Or a study of the map
.
Off we go past the refurbished Old Crown Inn on the green near the Church
.
Was this struck by lightning? Remarkably clinging on to life
.
Entering the Millennium Field
.
Down across the stream
.
By the very old walled garden
.

The old green man of the woods?
.
What a lot of walkers on a day like this!
.
Not far back to Cam Peak now
.
The rear view of Downham and the light is so much better
.
A most enjoyable walk
.

A final view of Dursley and Cam with Dursley church plainly visible

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
