southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Rodmarton circular 2 September 2006 Where have all the ramblers gone? When we turned up Tim was about to try and press a few villagers to walk with him. It certainly looked as though it would be a cosy family affair with just the three of us. But with a minute to spare two others turned up swelling our numbers to five. I think too many people listened too closely to the weather forecast. It turned out pretty miserable but not particularly wet and we enjoyed a good brisk walk over some reasonable going. . |

| Our leader,
Tim, puts on his boots in case someone turns up to walk on what promises
to be a wet and windy day . |
||
| And having
mustered five hardy souls we set off past a well known Rodmarton
landmark . |
||
| Round
recently harvested fields . |
||
| Joining the
Macmillan Way . |
||
| And making
the now mandatory stop for blackberries . |
||
| Waiting to
cross a narrow lane we come on a convoy of vintage cars . |
||
| They will
get wet if it rains hard! . |
||
| We cross a
field of corn with a well cut path . |
||
| Then a tree
studded meadow . |
||
| A cow has
heard the weather forcast and is looking for shelter . |
||
| We come to
the village of Tarlton . |
||
| Where we
stop for coffee before leaving the Macmillan Way for the Monarchs Way . |
||
| We spot a
couple of deer - but they spot us first . |
||
| And head up
a small valley . |
||
| Across
fields . |
||
| And back to
Rodmarton, and its church which has been in sight for much of our walk . |

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. |
