Coaley Peak and Uley -

12 August 2006

.
We meet at Coaley Peak car park where Kathy, our leader, briefs us on the days adventure
.
And adjusts her trekking pole before
.
We set off looking across the Severn Vale
.
More great views towards Cam Long Down and Stinchcombe Hill
.
Can you see the Welsh mountains - yes, just about!
.
We follow the Cotswold Way along the side of the hill
.
Then we climb to the start of Uley Bury with views over Cam Long Down
.
And Downham Hill
.
Circling Uley Bury we meet an obstruction
.
Then descend towards Uley Village
.
Stopping to admire the view on the way
.
Descending into Uley with its re-opened Old Crown Inn
,.
Over a footbridge at the bottom of the valley
.
Watched by an anxious mother
.
Rule of rambling:- regardless of pace set, after 1/2 mile the rear of the walk will always be 1/4 mile behind the front
.
But we stop on the side of the hill for a catch up and chat
.
Then over the top and down into Nympsfield
.
Past the church
.
A final stop in a field of corn
.
And back to the cars
.
With a final look at the view over the vale

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
