southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Bulls Cross and Bisley - 5 August 2006 Richard sends photos from Saturday's walk led by Bill - a good turnout - 18 of us. Very warm and close - I came back 3 lbs lighter even after a pub lunch. . |

| We meet at
Bulls Cross on a cloudy but warm day and head down the road towards Slad
. |

| We turn off
onto a footpath where efforts to improve seem to have made the going
more difficult . |

| Which heads
steeply downhill as a stoney track needing to be taken with extreme
caution . |

| Our leader,
Bill, checks anxiously at the bottom to ensure that everyone has
survived the descent . |

| And then
leads us round a pretty pond - scene of a murder in Cider with Rosie
. |
||
| Then off up
hill where Alan seems to have spotted something - or is he just playing
to the camera . |
||
| Looking back
at Slad . |
||
| Then its
over Swifts Hill . |
||
| To a stop
for coffee at Purgatory - could be an omen . |
||
| We walk up
towards Fennels Farm and on to Toadsmoor . |
||
| Spotted on
the way - another omen . |
||
| Wild flowers
in the Toadsmoor Valley . |
||
| As we climb
steadily towards Bisley . |
||
| Through a
trickey kissing gate . |
||
| Till we
reach the first hostelry, where some of us stop for lunch . |
||
| Refreshed we
go in search of the rest of the party - could be in the lock up . |
||
| No they are
in here! . |
||
| Our walk
continues through Stancombe . |
||
| Down through
the Sydenhams . |
||
| With views
over Piedmont - influence of French textile workers . |
||
| And Snow's
Farm . |
||
| Till we
rejoin our outward route, struggling back up the stoney path .. |
||
| Then back
up the road to the cars . |

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. |
