Foston's Ash and Sheepscombe -

7 June 2006

A few pictures from Cynthia's walk on Wednesday. Its interesting to compare the photos with those taken earlier in the year. See these now
.
We gather on the Fostons Ash car park in the sweltering heat of the English summer
.
And set off through the fields
.
And into a cool wood for a minute or two
.
At Whiteway Colony we pass a luxurious kennel
.
Then a colourful meadow
.
Guarded by a tank (!?)
.
We near Bidford Barns, being developed into desirable residences
.
.
With some interesting weathervanes
.
And through a gate into the Slad road before
.
Heading down the valley
.
With Workmans Wood to our right
.
This downhill stuff is easy
.
Through the cool woods
.
And down into Sheepscombe village
.
Where we see old friends
.
We're not llamas you know! Click here to work out what we really are
.
We pass by an English country garden
.
And a developing espalier feature, which were popular in medieval times
.
Summer is here
.
We take refuge from the heat to have a break
.

Well it might rain, and it acts as a sun shade, and you can hack through the undergrowth with it
.
Into Workmans Wood , part of the Ebworth Estate
..
And a pause to regroup
.
We look back down the valley towards Sheepscombe
.
Then walk past the ponds
.
And another short stop to chat, or reflect, or take photos of photographers
.
Before continuitng on up through the woods
.
Before the final climb to Foston's Ash
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
